Culture Shock

I have moved to a different and completely new environment.
You feel lack of direction, not knowing what's appropriate or
inappropriate.  Being in a new place the first few weeks the feeling of
culture shock sets in.

Culture shock one suffer when they come to live in another country or
place that's different from the place they are original from they suffer
physical and emotional discomfort.

Culture shock can make one experience real pain, such as sadness,
loneliness, aches, pain, allergies, insomnia, changes in temperament,
depression, feeling vulnerable, powerless, anger, resentment, unwillingness
to interact with others.  You try hard to absorb everything in the new
country, but you are unable to do so, longing for family, you just feel
lost.  You are a new arrival you may feel weird, with all the things you
encountered.  The communication difficulties of being understood, feeling
incompetence.  This happens  when a person is trying to  adapt to a new
culture that is very different from their culture of origin.  The transition
is a difficult process it will take time; there can be strong feeling of
dissatisfaction.  After getting familiar with the environment and
wanting to belong, you evaluate the old ways versus the new. You
realize the new culture has good and bad things to offer, you start to
define and establish goals for living.  When you return to your country
things are no longer the same, our customs are not the same as there's.
Everyone has there own reaction to culture shock.

This I have experienced in 2005 and 2007

  1. I understand so well what you felt in every way! Everything you said, I would have said the exact things! So hard at first. But once you are adapted to the new environment and made it yours, the sky is the limit!
